Steps to make DIY greeting cards for your loved ones

You know what isn't my cup of tea? Searching for a readymade greeting card amongst thousands of them arranged beautifully in several racks. I strongly feel that each person is entitled to receive a well-written greeting card on special occasions in their lives, such as birthday, marriage, housewarming, professional growth and childbirth. Giving a handwritten greeting card on such special occasions will add to the joy of the person receiving it. Each person is unique, hence I feel that he or she should receive something unique. Also, have you ever thought of that happy curve on his or her face as he or she reads the lines? At the end of the day, your greeting would stand apart and what's more, the person will remember your happy gesture throughout life and cherish it.

Here are the steps to create a beautiful greeting card for your friend. Let's take birthday greeting cards as an example.

1. Don't buy a readymade greeting card - yeah, that's the first step.

2. Take a plain sheet of paper and put down your thoughts. Thoughts about that person, the memories you had with that person, how you feel about him or her, a short message that you would like to tell that person, etc. If you're on the "funny side up" that time, put down some funny quotes, too!

3. Now, start copying the matter onto a fair piece of paper.

4. There is no need of flowery language here. Put your thoughts in a simple manner. But you have to be sincere. And truthful.

5. You don't have to impress the person with your skills. Nevertheless, if you have no idea of what to right or if you think that you are poor at putting your thoughts down on paper, try drawing patterns and symbols. Or writing a simple "HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR" would suffice.

The idea is to create a sense of belonging in the person who receives your message. He or she should feel that this comes from the bottom of your heart. They should feel loved and special. Lemme tell you this - when I first received a handwritten birthday card from one of my friends, I was astonished, especially because she had spent some of her valuable time crafting a card for me - and you know what - that strengthened our ties! I tell you, there is nothing more beautiful a gift than a handwritten greeting card!

Of course, there are even better ways, but I am telling you an easy one, inexpensive but truly beautiful.

So next time, don't buy a readymade greeting card for your loved one. Instead, turn a piece of paper into a warm greeting that would be remembered life long!
